The Republic of South Africa will host the 28th International Population Conference of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP) in Cape Town, at the Cape Town International Conference Centre (CTICC) from 29 October to 4 November 2017.
Jun 27 2017 29th African Union Summit
The 29th African Union summit was held in Addis Ababa from June 27th to July 4th 2017. The AU recognizes the need of exploring potential Demographic Dividend opportunities throughout the AU member states. The theme of this summit was “Harnessing the Demographic Dividend through investments in Youth“.
On June 22, 2017, the Population Reference Bureau (PRB) hosted one of its Africa Population, Health, and Environment (PHE) webinars, “Connecting PHE Approaches to Youth and the Demographic Dividend” produced under the Policy, Advocacy, and Communication Enhanced for Population and Reproductive Health (PACE) Project.
Nov 15 2016 Tenth African Development Forum
The Tenth African Development Forum will be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on the theme, “Migration and Africa’s transformation”. The theme stems from the recognition of the central role of migration as an important enabler for inclusive and sustainable development premised on African-owned and African-driven developmental initiatives.
Sep 12 2016 U.S. Census Bureau International Workshop Announcement: Understanding the Demographic Dividend
The U.S. Census Bureau’s International Programs will conduct a workshop on Understanding the Demographic Dividend from September 12 to 16, 2016 at the headquarters office near Washington, D.C.
8-12 February 2016 – The 7th African Conference on Sexual Health and Rights was held under the theme “Realizing a Demographic Dividend in Africa: the Critical Importance of Adolescent and Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights”.
26 January 2016 – The 4th International Conference on Family Planning featured a new Demographic Dividend Track. The Demographic Dividend Track took place on January 26, 2016. This conference track was organized by a subcommittee co-chaired by Population Reference Bureau, BKKBN, UNFPA, University of Indonesia, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health.
25 January 2016 – The Bill & Melinda Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health, Population Reference Bureau, and the Population and Poverty Research Network held an ICFP Pre-conference Workshop on the Demographic Dividend. The workshop took place January 25, in advance of the International Conference on Family Planning in Nusa Dua, Indonesia.
Nov 30 2015 7th African Population Conference
30 November 2015 – From the 30th of November to 4th of December 2015, the Union of African Population Studies (UAPS) and the Government of the Republic of South Africa hosted the 7th African Population Conference in Pretoria, South Africa.
24-26 August 2015 – Experts representing 15 African countries and from government agencies, research institutions, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector came together in Nairobi, Kenya for a 3-day demographic dividend knowledge sharing symposium.
1 June 2015 – Policymakers, business leaders, youth groups, and civil society organizations came together at UN Headquarters in New York to discuss the importance of investing in young people to achieve a demographic dividend.
